About Idlewilde by the River

Located just 3 miles west of Estes Park, Idlewilde resort cabins offer 13 different cottages on the banks of the Big Thompson River. Additionally, we are conveniently located only 1 mile from the west entrance of world renown Rocky Mountain National Park in one of the last remaining non-commercialized corridors of Estes Park.

Idlewilde by the River's thirteen rental housekeeping cabins are all set in a totally natural environment under the canopy of 100ft ponderosa pine trees creating the ultimate mountain getaway.

All of the cabins are of 1940's vintage, updated with lacquered knotty pine interior, kitchen/dining room combos, modern appliances, color cable TV's, updated carpeting, tile showers, and modern furnishings.

So, if your objective is to relax in the tranquil mountain air along the river's edge, Idlewilde is the place for you! On our 2 acre premises, you will find excellent trout fishing, horseshoe pits, hot tub, outdoor furniture, barbecue grills, and the highly audible sound of the fast moving Big Thompson River.

All 13 units are housekeeping cabins, which is similar to your own home. We provide clean towels and sheets as needed, bar soap, and toilet paper. We do not provide a daily cleaning service. Of course, your cabin will be spotless upon your arrival, but cleaning will be up to occupants until departure. The kitchens are equipped with basic necessities including stoves, refrigerators and microwaves.

In effort to provide the best vacation possible, we asked departing guest (which 80% of our guest return again and again) for suggestions and improvements. The consensus was that people wanted no change whatsoever. For those guest who can't or don't want to totally get away from it all, we offer an internet terminal located in the front office which allows you to check email. We also offer fresh coffee and newspapers each morning in the office as well.
