"ME, MY BROTHER AND MY SON JUST CAME BACK THIS WEEK FROM A 5 DAY STAY AT IDLEWILD CABINS. WE STAYED IN "THE LINGER LONGER CABIN" IT WAS GREAT---CABINS VERY COMFORTABLE, VERY CLEAN AND HAD THE BIG THOMPSON RIVER RIGHT OUT OUR BACK DOOR. THE OWNERS, LLOYD AND DONNA, WERE VERY FRIENDLY --PLENTY OF WILDLIFE RIGHT OUT OUR BACK DOOR. A 6X6 ELK BULL VISITED THERE 2 OR 3 DAYS, SAW SQUIRRELS , BEAUTIFUL BIRDS, AND A TRIBE OF MARMONTS ON THE ROCKS JUST ACROSS THE STREET. ALSO, THE CABINS ARE LOCATED VERY CLOSE TO THE ENTRANCE TO THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN PARK-(2 MILES) IF YOU WANT TO SEE PLENTY OF WILDLIFE GO TO RMSP AND TAKE FIRST PAVED ROAD PAST RANGER ENTRANCE STATION-(BEAR LAKE ROAD)-VISIT MAHRAIN MEADOW FOR SURE TO SEE GREAT ELKS, MULE DEER, AND DEFINITELY GO TO SPRAGUE LAKE NEAR THE END OF BEAR LAKE ROAD AND SEE THE BEAUTIFUL BROOK TROUT IN RIVER. "What an awesome place! We had only booked a room for one night and we were sure sorry we didn't reserve a few more nights. Not only is Idlewilde a gorgeous view during the day but the night is so serene. It was very relaxing to be on the enclosed porch, sitting on the swing, watching the squirrels and the humming birds and listening to the most wonderful sound of the river. It was very special for us to be the only ones in the hot tub that night,sitting back and watching all the stars and listening to the crickets. I sure hated for the night to end when it was time to go to bed. Will we ever go back to Idlewilde??? YOU DARN RIGHT WE WILL!!! Thank you for the most relaxing time. "We enjoyed our time at Idlewilde. The cabins are nice and clean. We had a stunning view of Big Thompson River. We are glad that grills ar provided since we ended up using them and eating at the cabin several evenings. We thought it was nice that Lloyd and Donna put up hummingbird feeders .
