Tim and I chose to get married at Idlewilde cabins, as it held a special spot in my families hearts. The year before, we spent a long weekend with my family; our mom had terminal cancer and we wanted one final special vacation with her. She has since passed, and we are left with wonderful memories, sitting along side the river and just being together. One year later, Tim and I got married along side this same river. We rented 6 cabins for all of our famiies and celebrated with laughter, love, and new and old memories. Deb and Larry were wonderful hosts and were more then accommodating to help make our time here special once again. This is a little piece of heaven and we intend on coming back again! -Karen and Tim

Ataloa is one-bedroom efficiency cabin located inches from the waters edge. This cabin is so close to the river, with heavy snow run off in the spring, water splashes onto the screened porch. With 1 queen size bed, this cabin is designed to accommodate a maximum of 2 people.

The sound of the rushing river is audible throughout the entire cabin. Like all the other single bedroom cabins, it offers cable TV, a fully functional kitchen, dining area, and a screened porch with a swing.

Ataloa has a good size courtyard next to it with picnic tables, barbecue grills, and outdoor chairs. Because Ataloa is so close to the river's edge, one should keep this in mind if you have small children.

I've been coming to Estes for many years. I don't know how these cabins managed to elude me, but I am so glad I found them! My husband and I stayed here in the Ataloa cabin for our honeymoon the first week of October. I loved it so much I didn't want to leave. The cabin was right next to the river. I opened the window so I could hear the river at night. I love that sound so much. It was close enough to town but far enough away to get the peace that I was looking for. The cabin was VERY clean and well maintained. The owners keep the grounds very nice as well with firepits, a grill, everything you could possibly need. Every morning the elk would pass through the property. One was right behind our cabin munching on the bushes. A male was trying to herd his women that were all over the place and they jumped the river and went up the hill right across from our cabin. His bugle was amazing. One evening we even got visited by a group of wild turkeys. We plan on coming back every year for our anniversary.

We loved it here and cannot wait until we return. Our only wish was that it was closer to our home so we could go more often. The cabin was everything we needed for two people, right by the creek and was so relaxing. Sitting out front on the morning while drinking coffee and reading a book is just such a simple memory that I will always take my mind back there. Highly recommend staying here! So close to all the activity but also far enough for some peace.

My parents gave me, my sister’s and brother-in-laws a great Christmas present, a week with them in Estes Park. This was my first visit here and I loved it. Hope to bring some friends back with me in the future. -Kathy Kottemann
