Idlewilde offers several cabins on the river located right on the banks of the Big Thompson. Others are just a few steps away. We specialize in finding the right accommodations just for you. Just let us know what you’re interested in, and we will do our best to provide it. One thing to keep in mind is that the cabins by the river tend to book fast, so you may want to act as soon as possible. All 13 cabins are furnished like a private residence. We provide you solitude, a luxurious hot tub to relax in, clean towels and sheets as needed, bar soap, and toilet paper. We do not provide a daily cleaning service. Of course, your cabin will be spotless upon your arrival, but cleaning will be up to occupants until departure. The kitchens are equipped with basic necessities including stoves, refrigerators, coffee makers (drip) and microwaves. Sorry, we do not allow pets.
What Our Guest Have to Say

A Great Time at Idlewilde by the River We especially loved the location of Idlewilde--on the mountain stream, close to the park entrance, and close to the YMCA camp. We loved being right on the river and hearing its soothing sounds. Mike and Beth, the managers, were great to work with--very responsive and helpful. They keep the grounds and cabins clean and well cared for. The cabins even had new pots and pans and other amenities. The new owners are doing a great job updating everything, and it sounds like they have even more planned. Steve and Shirley

THIS is the place! Stay Here! It is just wonderful! They have everything you need (and more), the cabins are beautiful (we stayed in three over the week we were there), the location is perfect. The river is gorgeous, with lots of wildlife to watch from your back door. Mike and Beth were amazing. They go out of their way to be sure you are as happy as possible. By the time we left, they felt like friends. When back in Estes Park, that's where we'll be.

Colorado vacation We enjoyed our stay at Idlewild very much. Our cabin was clean and well stocked. There were some new updated kitchen items that we were the first to use, it appeared. The grill right outside the door was very handy as well. Being able to sit outside by the river listening to the rushing water of the Big Thompson was very relaxing. For us, the close proximity to the Rocky Mountain National Park was important as we spent three days in the park. Mike and Beth were very friendly and helpful and provided good communication. They were also responsive to any questions or concerns we had. We would highly recommend Idlewild by the River as an option for lodging when you visit Estes Park.

The perfect spot for a nice quiet vacation! The hosts were very accommodating and the cabin was clean. The cabin is right on the river so that is all you hear at night. We watched birds and relaxed in the patio chairs for hours, it was perfect.

Nature at it's best! We had a great time at Idlewilde. The cabin was rustic but very comfortable. We could hear the river inside the cabin and felt very relaxed. Beth and Mike were super friendly and helpful. We plan to stay again.

Great cabin, by the river Awesome cabin, by the river, elk and deer abound (and a bunny). Mike and Beth were by far, the nicest, most responsive managers. Nice common areas to grill and sit by the river. Cabin very clean, basic kitchen. Quick drive to downtown-plenty of places to eat, coffee shops, rock shop and great hiking around Lily Lake and right next to Rocky Mountain National Park.

Been gathering with the family here on Labor Day for over 10 years. Great fishing and the grounds are immaculately carved for. Great activities in the local community and free tram service to and from downtown area.
